Inala is so proud to announce that our Specialist Birding and Ecology Guide Cat Davidson has won the inaugural Tasmanian Tour Guide of the Year Award. Presented on July 1^st by the Tasmanian Tourism Industry Council and Tour Guides Australia, Cat will now travel to Canberra in September as the Tasmanian state finalist for the Australia Top Tour Guide.

Cat has worked with Inala Nature Tours for nine years and is an integral, core member of our team on Bruny Island, Tasmania. We at Inala know Cat to be a passionate naturalist and guide who brings science to life, making complex ecology accessible and creating space on tour to allow our guests to feel respected and open to the wonder of the natural world. Reflecting on a career that brought her to this point – Tasmania’s Tour Guide of the Year – Cat shared with us the path that led her to our extraordinary Bruny Island.

“I started with Polar Bears at the edge of the Arctic Circle, taking guests out in kayaks into Hudson Bay, dodging icebergs, Russian tankers, Beluga Whales, and large white carnivores. Amid the splendour of the tundra, what began as adventure-sports instruction evolved into a deeper guiding practice rooted in ecology and fostering meaningful natural experiences. Following a stint travelling the world as a nature tour guide, from subtropical Queensland rainforests to the raw heathlands of the Falkland Islands, I was moved to seek out a team that shared my strong environmental values, one that I could represent with pride and integrity. That search led me to Inala, and it remains a privilege to contribute to a team so deeply committed to conservation.”
