Joe has always held a keen interest in the natural world. As a child he was given a field guide to Tasmanian birds and quickly grew to love our feathered friends, especially the little brown birds that are so often overlooked. Growing up in Hobart he spent his free time exploring the slopes of kunanyi / Mt Wellington as well as enjoying frequent trips to the nearby Bruny Island.
As well as a love for birds, Joe has a keen interest in the ecology and conservation of Tasmania’s unique flora and fauna. He is also a passionate wildlife and nature photographer, which he combines with a love for bushwalking; often hiking deep into Tasmania’s incredible wilderness World Heritage Areas or staying up all night in search of the elusive aurora australis.
