Meet the Inala Team

Jake has been fascinated by wildlife and the natural world for as long as he can remember. This early passion led him to pursue a career in ecology, and he has now worked as a professional ecologist for the past four years.

So far, Jake’s career has taken him to many beautiful and remote parts of Australia, most notably the Kimberley region of Western Australia, where he spent three years working as a field ecologist with the Australian Wildlife Conservancy.

Through his work, Jake has contributed to a wide range of conservation programs, including projects involving iconic Australian mammals such as Bilbies, Numbats and Quolls. He has also conducted bird surveys across northern Australia for species such as Purple-crowned Fairywren, Gouldian Finch, Black Grasswren, Northern Masked Owl and more.

After spending extensive time in the field, it was perhaps inevitable that the addiction of birdwatching would take hold and Jake now spends much of his time searching for rare and elusive birds both in Australia and abroad.

Now based in Perth, he juggles this passion with his other interests, which include searching for herpetofauna, mammals, peacock spiders and rare flora. He particularly enjoys sharing his enthusiasm for the natural world and helping others discover the incredible wildlife and landscapes Australia has to offer.
