Dougal began his life in the scenic wonderland of the tropical Whitsunday Islands, where he developed a passion for all things creepy and crawly from a young age. A dedicated bushman and scuba diver, he has extensive knowledge of the marine life found throughout the Great Barrier Reef and Coral Triangle, as well as a deep understanding of Australia’s frogs, reptiles, arachnids, insects, and birds.
As a horticulturalist, Dougal’s love for nature also extends to plant life and the unique biomes of Australia’s Top End and exploring how these ecosystems support the species he holds so dear. An avid traveller with an insatiable curiosity, there’s nowhere he won’t go in the pursuit of new species to discover. Together with his beloved wife, Dougal continues to explore Australia in their caravan, dedicating their spare time to documenting the country’s wildlife through photography and cinematography—sharing their work in the hope of inspiring greater awareness and appreciation for conservation.
