EXCELLENTVerified Perfect private small group tours of Tasmania We booked an Inala 9 day Tasmania private tour for us and another couple. Our first contact was with Bron, who patiently worked with us over many iterations to shape the tour to best use the 9 days to do everything we were specifically interested in: birding, animals, scenery. We are amazed she packed so much in, and can’t imagine a better result. Then Claire took over and made the detailed bookings to make it all happen. Lodging choices were ideal - interesting and close to each days focus. We are especially grateful that Cat Davidson was assigned as our tour leader/guide/driver. Cat is incredibly knowledgeable about Tasmania, birds, animals and back roads where we found unusual animals we were interested in. Cat is also a great person to spend 9 days with, and was always sensitive to each person’s interest. She was the perfect fit for our group. The fee was quite reasonable and the three hour tour flew by. Our small group of 4 meant that our guide paid individual attention to each member ensuring that we all had a quality birding experience and we benefitted from our guide’s exceptional knowledge and ability to quickly identify the birds around us. The guide Cat gave us a tour on the Inala property. She is a true professional, her knowledge of the birds, plants and other animals we encountered was extensive. She shared her love of nature and this special place with each of us, oh and we saw 27 species of birds including 8 of the 10 endemic to Tasmania! The Forty- spotted pardalote were out in force at the edge of the Jurassic garden and then again in the blind, I lost track of how many we saw. I appreciated her kind and firm adherence to actual science when the topic of the "medicinal" value of honey was discussed by a guest. "The placebo effect can be strong and the science is very clear"... In between helping us see 10 of the 12 endemic Tasmanian birds, and hearing another, Cat tied together the ecology so that we had a fascinating glimpse into the detailed relationships between flora and fauna. The 2 night stay with day tour and night tour, and later the Mt Fields tour. Both were outstanding. Dr. Andrew Hingston was a wonderful guide, kind and respectful, with incredible depth of knowledge about not only the birds, but all flora and fauna of the area, as well the as the history and geology of Tasmania. He is working to save the forty-spotted Pardalote, which we saw, along with about 45 other lifers. Not to mention the quoll, echidna, and platypus! Highly recommend the Mt Field tour also - such beautiful and diverse landscapes. We loved staying in Lyenna Cottale as well - what a beautiful, off-the-grid, relaxing place to stay. I spent a few months in Australia this year, and at the end of my time my mom flew out to meet me and tour around the country. We booked the endemic birds of Tasmania tour, as we are both very enthusiastic naturalists (myself especially interested in birds) and we couldn’t be happier with our experience. Our guide Don was a complete joy to travel with, not only knowledgeable about the ecology of the area but also about the indigenous culture and history. Don was a great conversation partner on long drives, and was super accommodating with schedule changes to try and spot our target species. We managed to spot every bird we wanted to see (though we did miss the swift parrots given the season), and even saw a couple unexpected mammals (the Quoll was a favorite). We had a blast, and I absolutely recommend this tour for anyone trying to spot all the endemics, or just general nature and bird lovers looking for a fantastic sample of Tasmanian wildlife. If we make it back to the continent we will ABSOLUTELY be traveling with Inala again, and fully recommend them to anyone thinking about booking a tour.Posted on TripadvisorVerified Words are often not really adequate We had a ten-day wildlife tour of Tasmania booked through Inala. My wife had been on tour with them twice before, and we'd both stayed at their wonderful reserve on Bruny Island twice before too, so we were familiar with them. This trip hugely exceeded our expectations when booking. Our guide, Cat Davidson, was quite simply superb, showing great leading and guiding skills, depth knowledge of the fauna and flora of the area, as well as much of the key history. Every day was different, the experiences just kept getting better and better, and we ended the tour with the certainty that we'd be booking with Inala again, and if we can also book more trips with Cat that would be an added delight. We found all the endemics, local sub-species and rare migrants with plenty of opportunity for photography. I particularly valued learning to identify and record bird calls. The accommodation was prefect, a true getaway. We had Cat as our guide for a day of birdwatching and an evening/night tour. We saw many species of birds - all the Tasmanian endemic and some fascinating nocturnal animals. It was just fantastic. We stayed 3 days but could easily have stayed for much longer.
